Scholarships

Daniel M. Jobbins Scholarship

APPLICATION FORM

 

Objective: To honor the contributions of the late Daniel M. Jobbins to the sciences of mosquito research and control and his service to mosquito control agencies in New Jersey; and to promote and recognize the mosquito research of graduate students attending a college/ university anywhere in the United States.

Scholarship Amount: one $4,000 (four thousand dollars) scholarship awarded annually.

Scholarship Guidelines

Candidate qualifications:

  • The applicant must be a full time matriculating student in an accredited graduate program.  
  • The student must be conducting (or recently have completed) research regarding mosquitoes (or ticks), their biology and/or practical control.

Application Procedure:

  • Complete the NJMCA Daniel M. Jobbins Scholarship application form.
  • Submit a statement of research in 4 (four) pages or less.
  • Include curriculum vitae or resume.
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from your major advisor.
  • Submit the completed application packet to:

scholarships.njmca@gmail.com.

Recipient Responsibilities:

  • The student must perform their research to the best of their abilities.
  • The student will present their research to the assembled members at the next NJMCA meeting.  
  • Scholarship recipient MUST present their research within 2 years of scholarship award receipt, if for any reason your student status changes, please be prepared to gift the remainder of the unspent scholarship monies to the lab under which you were studying (with a letter from the PI as proof), or promptly return it to NJMCA. 

Method of Selection

The recipient of the award will be chosen by the NJMCA Scholarship Committee.

Application Deadline

The application packet must be received by the Scholarship Committee no later than 5:00pm on February 13, 2026. 

Educational Scholarship

APPLICATION FORM

 

Objective: To promote and recognize the research and studies of college students in a curriculum that may be peripheral to mosquito control, but whose research may contribute new information to the mosquito control community.  This award is limited to undergraduate students enrolled in a college or university in New Jersey.  

Scholarship Amount: one $1,000 (one thousand dollars) scholarship awarded annually.

Scholarship Guidelines

Candidate qualifications:

  • The applicant must be a full time matriculating student in an accredited college or university in New Jersey.
  • The student must be conducting (or recently have completed) research that contributes new information to the mosquito control community.

  • Complete the NJMCA Educational Scholarship application form.
  • Submit a statement of research in 4 (four) pages or less.
  • Include an unofficial transcript.
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a professor or advisor.
  • Submit the completed application packet to:

scholarships.njmca@gmail.com.

College Scholarship

 APPLICATION FORM

 

Objective: To recognize a high school student who will be attending a college or university in a curriculum that may positively impact the mosquito control community.  

Scholarship Amount: one $500 (five hundred dollars) scholarship awarded annually.

Scholarship Guidelines

Candidate qualifications:

  • The applicant must be or have been a full time high school student in good standing for the most recent school year.
  • The student must be accepted to attend a college or university and have an interest in engaging in studies that may benefit the mosquito control community.
  • The applicant must have a family member or sponsor who is an active member of the New Jersey Mosquito Control Association.

Application Procedure:

  • Complete the NJMCA College Scholarship application form.
  • Submit a 500 word essay on why you think mosquito control is important both locally and globally.
  • Include a copy of high school transcripts.
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, or employer.
  • Submit the completed application packet to:

scholarships.njmca@gmail.com.

Method of Selection

The recipient of the award will be chosen by the NJMCA Scholarship Committee. Essays written by AI will be immediately disqualified. 

Application Deadline

The application packet must be received by the Scholarship Committee no later than 5:00pm on February 13, 2026.

William Zawicki Memorial Scholarship

APPLICATION FORM

 

 

Objective: Current Employees 

Scholarship Amount: one $1,000 (one thousand dollars) scholarship awarded annually.

Scholarship Guidelines

Candidate qualifications:

  • The applicant must be a full time employee of a New Jersey County Mosquito Control agency.
  • The applicant must be endeavoring to further their education, relevant to mosquito control or administration. 
  • The applicant must be a current member of NJMCA.

Application Procedure:

  • Complete the NJMCA Zawicki Scholarship application form.
  • Submit a letter describing details of the class / course and why you would like to further your education and how this will enhance your mosquito control or administrative skills and abilities. 
  • Include an unofficial transcript.
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a supervisor.
  • Submit the completed application packet to:

scholarships.njmca@gmail.com.

Recipient Responsibilities:

  • Successful completion of the course and you must present a poster or 5 minute presentation at the next NJMCA annual meeting, showcasing what was learned in the class(es). 

Method of Selection

The recipient of the award will be chosen by the NJMCA Scholarship Committee.
